Legacy system modernization

High-availability and mission-critical systemsmodernizationlegacyarchitecturemigration

A legacy system doesn't get replaced overnight. In the meantime it keeps the business running, and a migration done badly costs more than the original problem. This service is for teams that need to modernize without pausing.

We've done it directly: high-availability backends for real-time satellite fleet tracking. We migrated from a Java EE 7/8 base with Hibernate and Liquibase, and a legacy Backbone.js frontend moving to Angular, toward automated deployments with Jenkins, Docker containers, event-based messaging with Kafka, and reproducible provisioning on AWS.

How we approach a migration:

  1. Diagnosis: which part is real risk — won't start, won't scale, nobody understands it — and which part is debt that can wait.
  2. Incremental plan: migrate in parts, with the old and new systems coexisting as long as needed. Never a "big bang" that bets the business on everything working on day one.
  3. Execution with a safety net: tests, monitoring, and a clear way back at every migrated step. We don't touch anything without tests.

This isn't a rewrite-everything-from-scratch service. It's about moving a system that already works onto a foundation your team can maintain without fear.
